American Idiot

Green Day have certainly made an impression with their latest album. The satirical title track American Idiot, standing poignantly amid the twists and turns of current affairs, is but one of numerously smartly penned punk-rock tracks.

The album is certainly a labour of love. While there are 13 tracks on record, an engaging medley of tunes in two parts can be found on two different places on the album. The album opens with the melodic American Idiot, laced with the lead and distorted guitar riffs of tin-voiced singer, Billie Joe Armstrong.

Jesus of Suburbia is philosophical and offers social commentary, as do the similarly opinionated City of the Damned I Don't Care, Dearly Beloved and Tales of a Broken.

The album is a work of pure art and inspiration, fully justifying Green Day's seven Grammy nominations this year.
